Why do I have to renew my pet's licence every year?
Cities and towns provide a lot of great services to help keep our communities safe and when it comes to pets, it's easy for things to quickly become out of control. City officials are responsible for everything from animal control and pet rescue, to maintaining dog parks and city trails. You do your best to keep your pet safe and happy but we all know, accidents happen. A licence allows city officials and your fellow citizens to identify an animal, contact their owner, and make decisions that are in the best interest of the pet.
Since the last time I licensed, my pet has been spayed/neutered. How can I update their profile to receive the correct rate?
The City of Port Colborne provides discounted licensing rates for spayed/neutered dogs. If your pet has been sterilized since their last licence, you will need to update their profile to reflect these changes. Once updated, you will automatically be charged the correct rate when you renew their licence.
I renewed my pet's licence but didn't get a new tag. Why?
99% of the time it's because you did not specify you would like a new tag when completing the renewal process. For the sake of not generating unnecessary waste, we would recommend only replacing your pet's tag if the tag has been lost or is showing signs of wear. You can order a replacement tag through your online account for $10.
Wondering when your new tag will arrive?
Typically tag shipments are received in the mail 10-12 business days after your order is processed. You can login anytime and access your profile and not to worry, city records will show your pet has an active licence.
